Originally published Wednesday, April 20, 2005
Kim Simpler Hook, local Realtor with ReMax By The Sea, is a busy working mother and wife who found her niche selling real estate.
Hook said she grew up in Seaford where she attended school, but spent long memorable summers in Fenwick Island, where her parents owned a summer home.
She said they were able to spend the summer vacationing in Fenwick Island as her mother was a school teacher.
When Hook graduated from high school in 1983, she went off to East Carolina University studying business and marketing.
She returned to the Eastern Shore where she received her bachelor’s degree from Salisbury University.
Hook said she worked at various jobs including taking a position with a country club. She said she hated the work and decided in 1991 to find a new career.
Q. When did you get into real estate?
A. I got into real estate in 1991.
Q. How did you get started in the business?
A. I was working at a job I really hated and it inspired me.
The market was very different when I started, but I did jump in full time. I worked hard and was dedicated. I also had a finance background plus a B.S. in business.
Q. What have you tried to accomplish?
A. To be an extremely professional and successful agent and to be recognized as such. To be good at what I do.
Q. What do you enjoy about real estate?
A. Creating my own success and, of course, the people.
Q. And, what do you do in your spare time?
A. What spare time? I am a working mother. Truly, spending time with my husband Greg and son Colby, 3, and in the warm weather going to the beach and boating. Spending time with friends and family.
